The Mortal Instruments: Trailer of Angst

This may come as a shock to absolutely zero people, but I'm a total nerd when it comes to young adult novels. Especially paranormal romance and especially those with angsty guys.

Now, really, when isn't there an angsty guy in a YA paranormal romance. It might just be the most dependable place to go looking for such types. The Mortal Insruments series by Cassandra Clare is chock full of angsties. And of course they're all freakin hot.

Jamie Campbell Bower Jace Wayland The Mortal Instruments City of Bones TMI The Mortal InstrumentsJamie Campbell-Bower as Jace Wayland
Now - a super angsty book full of super angsty characters is fun. But not really relevant to ye' old blog full-o-screen caps. However, the movie adaptation of TMI, which hits theaters next August, just might have THE best cast in the history of casts. Why yes that's Robert Sheehan of Misfits AWESOMENESS in that screen cap below.

But leading the charge is Jamie Campbell-Bower as Jace. Jace is pretty much top of the heap when it comes to angst. I don't want to spoil the whole series for you (I totally totally do, but I won't) but Jace is  a character anyone with a heart would want to comfort and cuddle.

Look at him - he totally needs a hug.

And what's this? Could it be super sexy Jonathan Rhys Meyers as uber-evil arch nemesis Valentine? Why yes, yes it could.

I don't have a ton to say. This is another one of those trailer posts I keep planning to never do again. But I couldn't let this opportunity go by. Such high cheekbones!

August is soooo far away. You can see the trailer, you know, in motion here.

American Horror Story Asylum: Kit Walker's Not Tate

So what is everyone thinking of Kit Walker? I've been trying to put my finger on why I'm not as engaged with this character as I was with Tate but I really don't have much of an answer. Like Tate, he may or may not be crazy. He may or may not be a killer. He's stuck in this one location, being head shrunk, and hooking up with a girl. And yet... maybe he just seems too stable? Weird, right? But he feels downright dependable. And super trustworthy. There's no danger there at all - even if he is a skinning, beheading psycho. Congrats, Ryan Murhy, total opposite of Tate, indeed.

And I'm not really into him and Grace. Mostly because I don't really like Grace. I didn't adore Violet or anything, but it was a story about an innocent girl being drawn to the bad boy. That's just inherently fun.

It is angsty that Kit's worried he might be crazy. But that thing that came crawling out of his neck is fairly objective evidence that he's not crazy. At least for now.

And on a different show, that sex scene would have been the most awkward moment of the night. But on this show, it was only like #5.

And I don't think him and Grace would be able to hear each other through the walls. Just sayin.

I did like the crying to Sister Jude scene. I like crying. And I like that she felt the need to comfort him, because who wouldn't? But unlike last year, I don't feel compelled to try and work out what's really going on. Evan Peters with swirly 60s hair getting beaten and crying a lot is enough to make me watch. And screen-cap. A bit. But not quite enough to make me care.

I don't know. Am I missing the brilliance?

Once Upon A Time: Neal Cassady and Emma Swan in Tallahassee

Some people ship Emma with Jefferson. Some ship her with Hook. I am now officially and fully in the camp of exactly who the show wants me to ship her with - Neal Cassady.

To be fair, I sort of decided I was going to love this character before we even knew who he was. I kind of adore the charm-bomb that is Michael Raymond-James and I was pretty confident Once Upon A Time wouldn't be using the skill set he displayed on True Blood or Walking Dead.

Sure he looks like he could use a shower and a new hoodie, but check out that crinkly smile. Swoon.

Plot-wise, OUAT sure knows how to depress me. Emma is like #29 on my list of favorite OUAT characters, yet I felt pretty damn bad for her last night. And mostly it's all August's fault.

I mean, come on. I don't think Jennifer Morrison has ever smiled as much as she did in this episode. It makes her sooo much more likable. And I like liking people. More please.

The episode begins with one of the best meet-cutes ever. Emma tries to steal a car that Neal has already stolen and is currently sleeping in. His charisma not only gets Emma (and me!) to instantly enjoy his presence, but it also saves them from arrest. From there on out, they become the most adorable criminal couple you could ever hope to be robbed by.

They make plans to settle down. But of course, there's just one loose end that needs to be tied up. Conveniently (or not...) it's a loose end that looks like a total con. The sad part is that it wasn't a con. Neal is a stand-up guy apart from the criminal activity. He really does love Emma and wants to move to Tallahassee with her and have a life. But August shows up out of nowhere, shows him a box of magic, and rips away all the happiness Emma has ever known for the sake of the curse. You suck, August. I'm angry with you.

Neal makes him promise that once Emma is free from her obligation, he'll let him know. Hence the premiere post card. So hopefully, this means Neal is on his way to Storybrooke to welcome Emma back with open arms and one stellar explanation for wtf happened. Because just pointing at August and saying, 'It was all his fault!' probably won't be enough.

Oh, and also... he's Henry's dad. So there's that.

Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook Killian Jones on Once Upon A Time OUAT Tallahassee S02E6
By the end of the episode, they've firmly motivated all of Emma's trust issues. And she really sells the long term effects of betrayal by abandoning Hook in the giant's castle. Poor Hook. Sucks to be him. And he was angry. Check out that angry face ^^ I hope he kicks Emma in the shins next time he sees her. She totally deserves it.

The Vampire Diaries: The Five, A Fug Professor, And Damon In A Top Hat

Last night's The Vampire Diaries was all about the hunt. But who is the predator and who is the prey can change at the drop of a top hat. And hunting for information can be just as vital as hunting for sustenance or to rid the world of evil. In Mystic Falls, everyone is hunting and everyone being hunted.

In "The Five," The Brothers Salvatore (TBS - Characters Welcome) split apart for separate storylines. While Stefan's off hunting for info on the hunters, Damon is busy teaching Elena how to be a hunter herself. You know what that means! It's time for another Delena road trip!

But the episode begins with us meeting the titular Five. Guys. This is THE Five. Are we shocked that the lovelies over at TVD walked into a Powerhouse Gym and picked the five beef-cakiest dudes they could find? These fellas could crush some skulls.

Unfortunately, all their macho manly manliness can't protect them from the wrath of Klaus in a hobbit wig. And none of them make it out of the flashback alive. The good news is, they're primed and ready to take part in the 300 sequel. But back to the roadtrip. Sure, the excuse for why Damon has to be the one to teach Elena is flimsy (Stefan is too bad, Caroline is too good, but Damon's just right) but I don't care. Any old excuse for some Damon inner turmoil is fine by me.

Okay, but riddle me this. You're walking around with a guy that looks like that ^^ and he's looking at you like this vv

And then you sit down and say this guy is hot?!

Ha. Not in your lifetime, buddy. No one can rock a top hat like Ian Somerhalder.

So Elena fails in her first attempt at biting a normal girl because she realizes that normal girl has a family and if you bite someone with a family, clearly that whole family would suffer... or something. But luckily, the costumed crusaders stumble upon a date rapist just begging to be bitten. Thankfully, Mr. Roofie didn't have a picture of himself with his puppy on his phone, or Elena might have chickened out again. But after she takes a nice long pull on his carotid, Elena is flying high and ready to play with Damon's emotions.

I never quite realized that vampires on blood was like ravers on e. But that's definitely the image we were sold last night. Was it just me or is dancing not exactly Damon's strong suit...

Because fun is happening, Bonnie has to show up and ruin everything with her judgey eyes:

The Eyes of Judgement
Yeah. Try enjoying yourself with that scowl hovering in the doorway. Elena and Bonnie freak out about the fact that Elena momentarily wasn't feeling any crushing guilt over stealing some blood when Damon shows up and tells them to get the F over it. She drinks blood. Accept it and move on.

Ian Somerhalder Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries S04E04 The Five Season Four Damon is freakin hot covered in blood Delena TVD Damon Elena
But there is no acceptance. Instead, there is Damon soul smashing. Elena tells him that she doesn't want to be like him. Like... really?! He's like THE BEST. I want to be like him. She sooo easily forgives the fact that Stefan literally rips people up and then plays with their disassembled bodies, but enjoying a few sips of blood like Damon - FOR SOOTH!

Homegirl is nuts. I think every character on television should be more like Damon. In fact, all actual people IRL should be like Damon so that there are enough Damons to go around. Wouldn't that just be the best? The episode ends with Damon passing Elena back over to Stefan because she's crazy and TVD likes to see Damon alone and tortured. I'm not going to lie - I kind of like it too. But that doesn't mean it makes any sense.
